Steelwork reinforcement and repair
While reconstructing industrial premises it is necessary to assess the condition of bearing and envelope structures, identify the operating capability and in some cases to design the reinforcement of individual elements or the frame structures.
All these works can be divided into three major phases:
- Due diligence of the existing structures and identification of capability of bearing capacity of the framework and the need to strengthen it
- Selection of reinforcement type assessment and design of the reinforced structure
- Structure reinforcement works
Work Implementation conditions may require reinforcement under load with partial unloading and partial dismantling of a structure.
The most advantageous (but not always feasible) is reinforcement under load which provides the least difficulties for the production located in the building. Partial unloading (and a special case of releasing from the entire design load except its own weight) is required when during reinforcement works it becomes necessary to temporarily loosen the elements and connections which take up much load.
Partial disassembly is required in cases when some of the elements are so significantly damaged that they should be replaced by the new ones. These items should be fully unloaded prior to dismantling. Methods of unloading at the time of reinforcement depend on the specific conditions of the production located in the building and are quite varied.
