Steelwork design means the development of a set of documents including drawings, specifications, diagrams, explanations and other documents which are necessary to build the facility. Design documentation development for steel structures is an important part of the basic design for the construction of the project. Design documentation is developed on the basis of the Client's technical design brief. Basic technical requirements for being designed project should be indicated in the Client's technical design brief as follows: construction site location, overall dimensions of the facility (structural diagram of the building), equipment with lifting devices and machinery, location of windows, doors and gates, internal partitions etc.
Design works are most often performed by us in one stage – at the output the client receives a package of working documentation consisting of
2 main sets: working drawings of KM and working drawings of KMD.
Our company applies standard regulations in its design work. They set the contents and the rules for preparing working drawings KM and KMD of the building steelwork. The basic regulation is “The temporary instruction on the contents and preparation of working drawings for the construction of buildings and facilities, chapter 5, steel structures, KM drawings, detailed drawings KMD SN 460-74.” This instruction was approved by the State Committee on construction matters of the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated June 20, 1977, No. 76.
A set of KM drawings is developed for each separate building or structure and includes elements of engineering calculation of steel structures, general information and technical specifications for the metal with indication of its weight which will be required for production, steel structure layouts of buildings and facilities, longitudinal and transverse sections, list of metal components and separate technical joints. A set of working drawings KMD is a basic document for steelwork fabrication at the manufacturers.
